Over the last week, the country has conducted 3.4 million tests, about 40 percent more than one month ago. Given numerous antibody studies showing that the disease is far more widespread than just those with official positive diagnoses, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that case counts are rising with testing capacity.
As a physician, I am on the front lines of life and death situations every day. I know that the causes of death are not necessarily cut and dry. Illnesses such as influenza can worsen existing situations in vulnerable and aging populations, but they can not necessarily be judged as the cause of death itself.
The nonprofit group h3, Heroes Helping Heroes plans to build a fleet of mobile "stand-down" units to bring services and dignity to veterans living on the streets.
"We're able to look them in the eye, give them a hug and say, 'We got you. We didn't forget about you,'" said Heroes Helping Heroes (H3) founder Mark A. George.
